The UK’s rising house prices has been a hot topic for years now. With buyers being priced out of their favourite areas, many have feared that they will never get onto the property ladder or be able to afford their forever home.

As an article which was published in The Times this morning has pointed out, all is not lost however. Sky-high prices have indeed pushed people out of the more affluent suburbs but this has caused a shift towards a new generation of commuter hotspots.

Areas such as Luton, Watford, Slough and Basingstoke have all been benchmarked as up-and-coming towns which boast affordable properties and excellent rail and road connections.

As it’s just a stone’s throw from Dunstable, Luton’s fantastic write-up has caught our attention. Whether you’re looking to rent, buy or sell, here are just a few of the reasons why Dunstable should be on your radar:

  • Last year, Luton had the fastest-growing property prices in the country – up by a fifth to £256,636. Dunstable was just behind with an increase of 18%.
  • Luton is one of the few provincial towns in Britain with an airport. What’s more, Luton Airport is currently undergoing a £110 million refurbishment which is not only going to increase passenger capacity by 50%, it’s creating 10,000 new jobs in the area.
  • A £1.5bn programme was announced in 2016 and it will see improvements being made to the town over the next 20 years.
  • Luton is on the M1 and M25 and as well as fantastic road links, the town is also served by nine trains an hour into London with journey times as quick as 27 minutes.

With property prices in Dunstable higher than ever before, this really is a fantastic time to sell. If this is something you’re considering, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will be more than happy to provide you with a free, no obligation valuation.

With so many new jobs being created in the area from companies such as Amazon, it means that an increasing amount of workers will be seeking accommodation. If you’re thinking about renting out your property, please feel free to contact us and we will be more than happy to help.

In 2016 the team sold over 200 properties for an average of 99.2% of the guide price and let over 100 properties.
